Hanover Legion Old-Timers

A Message from the President

Welcome to the Hanover Legion Old-timers Web site. We hope you will find all of the information you need to attend our tournament. Our hockey club has enjoyed hosting this tournament for many years and this year is no exception as we mark our 34th Anniversary year.

The Hanover Legion Old-timers Hockey Team has a very proud history since the team began. The team has alumni of some 70 past players that have paved the way for the current team made up of 21 members. We gratefully acknowledge their contributions throughout the years.

Our yearly hockey schedule includes 46 games with 3 additional tournaments each year that we attend.

The current team is supported by their partners and together we work proudly to support our hockey arena, several charities and our community with yearly donations. We are very proud to say we have donated more than $47,500.00 to our community.

Hanover Legion Old-timers annual donations include the following as well as many others over the years:

  • •Big Brothers and Big Sisters through Christmas Gift donations to assist teens
  • •A Scholarship donation yearly to a graduating student from the Hanover John Diefenbaker High School exhibiting leadership in Sport and Academics.
  • •In Memory of Legion Old-timers Goalie Mike Kent, a fund in support of his daughters education
  • •In support of Hanover Minor Hockey
  • •Building & Improvements to the past Hanover Arena & continued support to the new P&H Centre.

Our local businesses have supported us for many years which we graciously acknowledge. Without their continued support, we would not be able to contribute the way we have done for so many years. Recently, the team raised $5000.00 for the new arena and donated again in 2012 over $1,100.00 to assist with funds for the donation of an extra bench for spectator seating at the arena.
We congratulate and thank all the hockey teams that have supported our tournaments over all of these years knowing it brings fellowship through sport to the forefront. We hope to see you all again this year.
